Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular disorders are issues that occur due to an injury, inflammation, infection or illness of the vestibular system. The vestibular system is comprised of an apparatus that is housed deep down in the inner portion of each ea. This organ is responsible for the body’s equilibrium and gives information to your brain about head movement and where your body is in space. Disruption to this system can result in dizziness and balance problems.

UHS Physical Therapy offers vestibular rehabilitation to treat disorders and symptoms related to the vestibular system. Based on evaluation findings, the therapist will decide how to best treat the condition you are presenting with. Treatment may include oculomotor training, postural re-education, and balance training.

Common Vestibular Disorders may include:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Cervicogenic Vertigo
  • Labrynthitis
  • Meniere’s Disease
  • Perilymphatic Fistula
  • Balance & gait deficits
