Hello World

UHS has upgraded our patient communication system to Epic's Hello World. This new platform integrates directly with your MyChart record to provide more secure, timely, and interactive updates.

This new platform allows patients to receive timely notifications from UHS, including:

  • Appointment confirmation/updates
  • E-check-in prompts
  • Emergency Department visit updates
  • Balance updates
  • Family notifications for procedure updates
  • MyChart account updates
  • Two-factor authentication messaging for MyChart login
  • Text notifications to begin Telehealth visits
  • Prescription updates

How does it work?

As a patient, once you’ve opted in to the new Hello World notification system, you will receive text notifications, emails and/or phone calls from UHS. The “two-way” aspect of this platform means you can easily respond to the messages with simple prompts, allowing you to confirm or cancel appointments, pay bills and more. Once opted in, you can easily opt out at any time.

If you previously opted into text messages from UHS, you will receive text messages automatically. Patients will automatically be opted in to receive emails. Any changes to your communication preferences can be made in your MyChart account.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do?

Patients already utilizing text messaging communications will be opted in automatically. Patients can opt in to Hello World messaging by texting “JOIN” to 34208, or opt in via their MyChart account.

What messages will I receive?

Hello World sends time-sensitive notifications directly to your cell phone. Common messages include:

  • Appointment reminders and unexpected clinic closures.
  • Waitlist notifications to accept earlier appointment offers.
  • Billing statements, balance reminders, and payment plan options.

What happens when I reply to a Hello World text message?

A patient's response will trigger an automatic action within the system. For example: When you reply to confirm your appointment, your appointment status will automatically be updated to confirmed.

What if I don't want to sign up for the new UHS text messaging?

Patients are not required to enroll in Hello World text messaging. If you choose to no longer receive text messages, you can revoke your enrollment via your communication preferences in MyChart, or text “STOP” to 34208. This will opt you out from receiving any recurring automated messages from UHS.

Where in MyChart do I update my Communication Preferences?

To find your communication preferences, log in to your MyChart account and navigate to the main menu. Click or tap "Communication Preferences" (located under the Settings section of the menu).

How will I know they are legitimate communications from UHS?

uhs-logo-175w.jpg

All Hello World text messages from UHS will come from the short code 34208. This will be the only phone number used to help patients identify communications from UHS. Emails and phone calls from UHS will include our official UHS Logo, shown here.
