Education & Training
United Health Services Hospitals (UHSH) is committed to promoting excellence in research through proper education, training, and compliance. Whether you are a new investigator, a research assistant, or a collaborator, proper training is essential to ensure ethical, responsible conduct of research and participant safety.
Required Training: Human Subjects Protection Certification and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training
All members of a research team — including principal investigators, sub-investigators, coordinators, students, and assistants — must complete certification of HSP and GCP before initiating or participating in human subjects research at UHS.
This training ensures researchers understand key concepts in:
- Human Subjects Protection
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Conflicts of Interest (COI)
- Data and Privacy Protections
- Research with Vulnerable Populations
Training modules are assigned based on your role and the type of research you are conducting.
Certification Requirements
- Certification must be completed before starting any research activity.
- Proof of completion must be submitted and on file with the UHSH Center for Research.
- Certificates must be renewed every 3 years, or as required by your research type or sponsor.
UHSH will verify that all listed study personnel are appropriately trained during IRB review and study initiation.
