Team UHS volunteers for 2026 Day of Caring

Groups of UHS employees volunteered for the 2026 Day of Caring on Friday, September 11 at multiple locations, rolling up their sleeves to support the annual activity organized by United Way of Broome County.
UHS teams deployed to several locations, including UHS Senior Living at Ideal, early Friday morning and immediately began pitching in to spruce up the nonprofit sites under the direction of site supervisors. The UHS groups joined other volunteers from across the community.
Day of Caring volunteers step up for local health and human service agencies, parks, attractions and other nonprofit sites to clean, sweep, paint, dig, plant and repair.
UHS traditionally is a strong supporter of Day of Caring, which commemorates the heroism and self-sacrifice of Americans in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The UHS Feed the Need Giving Garden is bountiful!

What starts as a few seeds and willing hands grows into something much bigger. The UHS Feed the Need Giving Garden showcases the power of teamwork and community engagement. Nestled on the Wilson campus, the garden includes ten raised beds and two wheelchair-accessible beds that are cared for by dedicated Team UHS volunteers.
The fresh produce harvested from the garden is distributed through the UHS Food Pantry, helping to address food insecurity in our community. More than a garden, it is a living example of the UHS Value of Teamwork and a reminder that impactful programs can grow when people come together with a shared commitment to making a difference.
