Our Care Team

A well-coordinated team

Doctor Patient bond

“Everything went smoothly.”

That’s what we at UHS want you to say every time you call on us for care or visit one of our facilities.  We know you expect a lot from your healthcare provider – and you should. At UHS, we stand ready to meet or exceed those expectations.

What makes for a smooth, hassle-free experience? We believe that the very good patient care experience begins with listening, showing respect and giving hope.

How do we deliver on that promise?

First, we focus on you.  When you walk through our doorways, we strive to know your name, understand your medical condition and treat you not as a case, but as a person.

We respect your questions, your opinions and your decisions.  Our goal is to help you stay in charge of your care, while guiding you to the best care options.  Whether you are an in-patient or an out-patient, we encourage you to speak up so that we ensure that we are providing a comfortable environment, that we are meeting your needs and that we are answering your questions.

Second, we work to make your care as quick, efficient and beneficial as possible, without making you feel rushed.  We seek to anticipate your needs, find the best possible referrals to other providers if you need additional care, and make appointments for you so there’s one less thing you have to worry about.

And third, our goal is to always communicate with you in a way that’s accurate and understandable.  Medical care today can be complicated, often involving numerous tests, procedures and therapies.  We believe it’s important to explain things clearly so that you and your family members can make informed decisions.  We want you to be confident that you have the information necessary and that you have received reliable guidance.

Ambulatory Quality

A Patient Success

"[A]ll the staff on who took care of me went above and beyond for me while I was recovering from back surgery. I had an unexpected reaction...it seemed I was always pushing the call button for their help. They were always cheerful and caring. It made a world of difference. Thank you!" - A UHS Patient

Healthcare today also involves a team approach.  The way your doctor, nurse, technician and therapist work together can make all the difference in your treatment, recovery and healing.  That’s why we make well-coordinated teamwork – with everyone on your team sharing information – a top priority.

Treatment by expert and experienced caregivers

The patient experience is not just about the quality of the clinical care we provide or the comfort and cleanliness of our facilities. Patient experience is about the relationship between our care givers and our patients. Our healthcare team is made up of people who are experts in their fields. In every clinical area, you will find highly skilled, specially trained individuals who have chosen UHS as their preferred place to work. We have very high expectations of each member of our staff, and it is these same high standards that make us a desirable employer for dedicated health care professionals.

Our healthcare team includes:

  • registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and unit technicians;
  • clinical staff members who are responsible for such specialized services as taking X-rays, drawing blood, running lab tests, counseling those in need, and helping patients recover through rehabilitation;
  • staff members who work behind the scenes to provide nutritious meals, ensure a safe and clean environment, keep our technology up to date, maintain patient accounts, produce educational programs, maintain a safe environment, and provide other support.

In addition, more than 400 physicians practice at UHS representing 25 medical specialties. All have gone through an intensive credentialing process in order to practice here, and many serve on committees created specifically to oversee the care provided. Internal and external physician experts also continuously work with other doctors and hospital staff to employ the best medical practices in the treatment of our patients.

The most important member of the team is you.

Patient Quality

Patient-centered care is our goal, whether you are coming to one of our primary care sites for an annual visit, are hospitalized for a surgery or medical issue, need rehabilitation after a hospital stay or you need home care. In addition, you can be sure that if you need laboratory work, medical imaging or nursing home care, UHS will provide that same high level of service, with you at the center of our efforts and concern. You can rely on us to make your care, needs and comfort our top priority.
