March 04, 2020

Rick Borschuk, CPA, of Binghamton has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of the UHS healthcare system.

He has held the post on an interim basis since 2019.

“We have seen that Rick’s demeanor and leadership skills are very much in line with the culture of our organization,” said John M. Carrigg, president and chief executive officer of UHS, in announcing the appointment.

Mr. Carrigg added:  “Over the past several months, Rick has gotten to know our senior team, and we have gotten to know Rick and gain an appreciation for his quick attention to the complex nature of our organization and all that we have going on.”

Mr. Borschuk has extensive experience as a finance executive with a number of leading healthcare institutions.

Following a career that included such titles as executive vice president of finance and business development with the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and chief financial officer at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Ill., Mr. Borschuk has spent the past 20 years as an interim leader and consultant.

During this time, he has held titles such as interim chief financial officer for the 2,400-bed St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Centers of New York, interim CFO for the 1,400-bed Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and interim CFO for the 1,000-provider CHI Franciscan Medical Group.

A certified public accountant, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting and finance from the University of Iowa.
