UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital's Career Days sparks students interest in healthcare
September 04, 2025
UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital hosted its annual Career Days camp welcoming twenty-four students from across the Southern Tier on August 14 and 15, with support from the Otis Thompson Foundation.
The two-day, hands-on healthcare exploration program is designed for students entering grades 8 through 12, and offers a unique opportunity for students to explore a wide variety of healthcare professions in a real hospital setting.
Participants took part in immersive, experiential learning activities such as observing different ultrasounds, practicing safe patient handling and participating in a mock arthroscopic surgery.
Staff and departments from across the hospital came together to provide engaging, hands-on experiences that demonstrated the wide range of skills and teamwork required in a healthcare setting, making this year’s camp both educational and memorable. The goal of the camp is to inspire and prepare the next generation of healthcare workers by sparking curiosity and building confidence in young people considering careers in medicine.
