UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s multi-specialty practice on Pearl Street in Sidney will soon undergo significant infrastructure upgrades, thanks to federal funding secured by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
The hospital recently received confirmation that $667,500 has been awarded through the 2026 federal budget to replace the facility’s aging roof, windows, and doors. These upgrades will enhance safety, comfort, and energy efficiency for the patients and families served at the Sidney health center.
UHS Chenango Memorial purchased the 44 Pearl Street property in 2010 to better serve residents of eastern Chenango and western Delaware and Otsego counties. Over the past 15 years, more than $1.8 million has been invested in the site to expand services, which now include primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, orthopedics, cardiology, general surgery, laboratory services, and diagnostic imaging, including 3D mammography.
The newly awarded funding will cover 75% of the project’s total estimated cost of $890,000. It is one of fifteen projects selected for support in New York State under the FY 2026 Agriculture–Rural Development and Military Construction–Veterans Affairs funding bills.
Work on the improvements is expected to begin in 2026, representing another step forward in strengthening access to high-quality, local health care for the region.
