Importance of Flu Vaccination This Season

September 25, 2025

As flu season approaches, healthcare providers are urging community members to take preventative steps, with vaccination at the top of the list. Dr. Jeffrey Gray, Chief Medical Officer, UHS Hospitals, is available to speak with media about why the annual flu shot remains one of the most effective ways to protect individuals, families, and communities.

“Every year, we see the impact of influenza on patients of all ages — from missed work and school to serious complications requiring hospitalization,” said Dr. Gray. “The flu vaccine is a safe and proven way to reduce the risk of illness and to lessen the severity if you do get sick.”

Key topics Dr. Gray can address include:

  • The importance of annual vaccination, even for healthy adults.
  • How the flu shot reduces hospitalizations and complications, especially in vulnerable populations.
  • Safety of the vaccine and common misconceptions.
  • Practical guidance for families, older adults, and individuals with chronic health conditions.

Dr. Gray is available for in-person, phone, or virtual interviews. To arrange an interview, please contact UHS Communications & Marketing.
