Golf Hall of Famer Lee Trevino tours UHS Wilson Main Tower
July 10, 2025
On Wednesday, July 9, 6-time Major Champion and World Golf Hall of Famer Lee Trevino paid a visit to UHS Wilson Medical Center and toured the new Wilson Main Tower, ahead of his presentation at the UHS Health Expo at the DICK’S Open.
Mr. Trevino and his son, Daniel, were greeted by UHS staff in the Wilson Main Tower lobby and began their tour on the second floor. In the main lobby, Mr. Trevino was photographed alongside the plaque dedicated to Alex Alexander, who, through Broome County Community Charities, brought the B.C. Open and later the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open to the Greater Binghamton region. Mr. Trevino fondly reminisced about his experiences at the B.C. Open tournament.
On the third floor, Kate Foxx, MD, and Kenneth Foxx, MD, of UHS Neurosurgery led a discussion with Mr. Trevino regarding his experience being struck by lightning, the back surgeries and procedures he underwent as a result, and the advances in medicine since that time.
The tour continued through the Emergency Department, including the expansion of the Decker Emergency Room that opens on July 17, and the helipad, where the group enjoyed views of surrounding Broome County.
Throughout the tour, Mr. Trevino remarked on how impressed he was with the hospital and the innovative features and amenities provided for patients and staff, and how much he would have appreciated the beautiful accommodations during his own hospital stays.
UHS expresses our deepest appreciation to Mr. Trevino for taking the time to tour the Wilson Main Tower and for his presentation at the UHS Health Expo. It was a great privilege to host a true legend of golf in our community.
