What to Expect During Your Prenatal Care at UHS

At UHS, we’re committed to providing personalized, compassionate care throughout your pregnancy journey. On average, patients have about 15 prenatal appointments during their pregnancy.

  • Initial Visit: Your first appointment will be a proactive visit to confirm and establish your pregnancy.
  • New OB Appointment: This visit includes a comprehensive overview of your care plan and educational resources to support you throughout your pregnancy.
  • Ongoing Prenatal Visits: From the start of your pregnancy until 28 weeks, you’ll typically have an appointment every 4 weeks. After 28 weeks, appointments will occur every 2 weeks to monitor your progress more closely.
  • Ultrasounds: Most patients receive approximately 4 ultrasounds during the course of their pregnancy.

Your appointment schedule and care plan may be adjusted based on your individual physical needs or provider recommendations to ensure the best possible outcomes for you and your baby.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum care is all about supporting you as you heal, adjust, and settle into life with your new baby. During this time, we focus on your physical recovery, emotional well-being, and any questions you have about feeding, healing, or daily life after birth.

Your visits may include checking your healing, discussing bleeding or discomfort, offering breastfeeding or feeding support, talking about sleep and mood changes, and helping you plan for contraception when you’re ready. We also make space for any concerns—big or small.

Our goal is simple: to make sure you feel cared for, supported, and never alone during this important transition.
