UHS Home Care Bridges Connection, Compassion, and Culture

June 02, 2026

At UHS Home Care, care extends far beyond the walls of a facility, meeting patients where they are. The dedicated Home Care team delivers compassionate, individualized care directly to patients’ homes while building meaningful connections with those they serve and with each other.

Creating a Culture of Belonging with Warm Welcomes
The UHS Home Care team ensures you feel like part of the family from day one by providing a thoughtful and welcoming onboarding experience.

Rosie Diorio, Director of Operations, UHS Home Care, elaborated, “We started doing warm welcomes with our team. They’re greeted by the entire leadership team upon entering their first day and there’s a time for them to get to know us.”

Stacey Clow, Manager of Clinical Services, UHS Home Care, expanded on the next steps, “After their warm welcome, in the first couple of days, they meet individually with each department manager to learn what the other departments do and how that might mingle with what they’re hired to do.” She emphasized that this approach gives new team members, “a nice warm welcome into our family.”

Staying Connected
The sense of belonging established through warm welcomes doesn’t end after onboarding. It carries into every interaction, even when team members are miles apart, working independently in the field.  To maintain strong team dynamics, UHS Home Care prioritizes consistent, open communication to stay connected. Having a connected team is not only a priority, but a reality.

This commitment to connection is evident in their daily practices. Rosie shared, “At UHS Home Care, we connect everyday with our UHS Care Managers to ensure a safe and effective discharge plan.” Stacey added, “Then we come in as the clinicians out in the field to really connect with patients and meet them where they’re at.”

UHS Home Care reinforces how communication is essential to staying aligned as a team and providing exceptional care.

A Unique Career Experience

For UHS Home Care team members, every visit is personal. One-on-one time with patients creates space for trust, meaningful interactions, and rewarding experiences.

Stacey highlighted their patient-centered approach, “We really focus our care on quality patient care. The patient is always the center of our focus.”

Mike Howland, Physical Therapy Assistant, UHS Home Care, described the personal rewards of the role, “What I look forward to each day is that I go see people who may not get any other visitors, and I get to be their visitor. I get to make sure that they’re happy and healthy.”

Promoting a Culture of Safety
Delivering high-quality care means maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Employee and patient safety are critical and start with supporting each other. UHS Home Care promotes a Culture of Safety, where speaking up is encouraged and mistakes are learned from.

“We have a safety huddle every single day,” explained Rosie, “In that safety huddle, we try to discuss the near misses and updates on things that are pertinent to the entire organization. We take safety very seriously here and we do ongoing education.”

Stacey reinforced this commitment, “We also practice a Culture of Safety where we seek to learn from our mistakes.” This mindset builds trust and drives ongoing improvement.

A Fulfilling Career
For many on the team, working at UHS Home Care allows them to develop meaningful and impactful relationships. Team members feel valued and inspired by the unique patient care experience and welcoming environment, filled with collaboration. Mike highlighted, “The number one thing that makes UHS different is that I feel appreciated.”

Stacey noted more rewarding aspects, “I enjoy that each day I can impact not only patient care, but also the lives of the clinicians.” Rosie echoed these sentiments, “It’s fulfilling to be able to help someone each day.”

These rewarding experiences often translate into meaningful moments for patients, as well. Mike still remembers his experience with a patient who expressed that he wanted to walk again, despite everyone saying it wasn’t possible.

“I spent months with this gentleman, and he went from not being able to wiggle a toe to being able to walk”, Mike recalled. “There’s no feeling like it.”

From welcoming new team members to working alongside patients in their homes, the UHS Home Care team is driven by connection. It's not just where they work—it's how they care.
