UHS earns national supply chain award from ECRI

November 21, 2025

On Thursday, November 20, UHS was presented a national award for excellence in supply chain practices by ECRI, a global patient safety nonprofit organization. UHS was one of 12 healthcare organizations from around the country to be recognized.

This is the fourth time in six years UHS earned the award – a consistently high-quality performance that could not be achieved without the incredible collaboration from UHS team members across the System.

“This award is a powerful affirmation of the discipline and innovation our team brings to supply chain operations every day,” said Blaine Olmsted, BS, RRT, PMP®, senior director of UHS Supply Chain Operations. “Through our partnership with ECRI, we’ve streamlined workflows, improved financial performance, and empowered clinicians with data-driven insights that elevate patient care—all while keeping patient needs at the center of every decision. I’m honored to see our team’s commitment to excellence recognized on a national level.”

The Healthcare Supply Chain Achievement Award recognized UHS and 11 other awardees for demonstrating exemplary utilization of services across the procurement lifecycle, such as budgeting, benchmarking, technology assessment and strategic development. As part of the selection process, ECRI evaluated candidates’ 2025 spend management and market analytics efforts for capital medical devices, supplies, physician preference items, service contracts and reagents.

More than 4,000 U.S. hospitals and health systems are members of ECRI’s strategic sourcing and supply chain programs. ECRI has analyzed nearly $86 billion in supply and capital spending over the past year. Their integrated technology decision support solutions help healthcare organizations of all sizes and settings reduce clinical spend and enhance patient outcomes.

Congratulations to our team members on their well-deserved success and recognition!
