UHS celebrates 2026 PHIL Award recipient and nominees

October 29, 2026

At UHS, respiratory therapists make a difference with every breath they help patients take. The PHIL (Pulmonary Health and Illness of the Lungs) Award honors those exceptional caregivers whose skill, compassion, and dedication leave a lasting impact on patients and families. This year, Bailey Kindred, RRT, RRT-NPS, has been selected as the 2026 PHIL Award recipient!

On October 28, 2026, the UHS Pulmonary team proudly honored its outstanding respiratory therapists, announcing the 13 nominees for the 2026 PHIL Award to much applause.

The PHIL Award® is The FACES Foundation's® signature program. It is the only nationally recognized hospital-based recognition program dedicated to honoring outstanding respiratory therapists who provide exemplary care and treatment for patients with respiratory illnesses, as nominated by patients, family members and other caregivers. The PHIL Award was created in 2006 in honor of Philip C. Lamka, who passed away from Interstitial Lung Disease.

Bailey Kindred is passionate about delivering exceptional care to neonatal and pediatric patients and is committed to continual professional growth. She earned her Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty credential and is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree to further expand her expertise.

With a special affinity for serving the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Bailey provides compassionate, expert care to some of our most vulnerable patients and families while serving as a strong advocate for their needs.

Her collaborative approach, dedication to excellence, and engagement with advanced technologies and specialized procedures, including Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, have made her a valued member of the UHS Pulmonary team.

During her more than eight years at UHS, Bailey has earned the respect of colleagues and patients alike. Those who nominated her praised her outstanding leadership, calm presence in challenging situations, and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care.

As this year’s winner, Bailey received a plaque from The FACES Foundation, a sculpture entitled "Appreciation,” and a certificate for free registration to the annual NYS respiratory care conference.

The other incredible UHS respiratory therapists nominated this year include: Tiffany Doroz, Brooke Austin, Jessica McBride, Katlyn Meyer, Kelly Rosyn, Bart Doroz, Jessica Lane, Patrick Malcolm, Melissa Clark, Dustin Taylor, Jasmina Mohgrabi, and Robert Reese. Most of these worthy respiratory therapists received more than one nomination!

Congratulations to Bailey and all of the nominees! We are incredibly proud of the excellent work done by you and all of our respiratory therapists at UHS.
