UHS Delaware Valley Hospital receives early intervention approval
October 10, 2025
The UHS Delaware Valley Hospital (UHS-DVH) therapy department has been officially approved by New York State to offer speech and occupational therapy services through the Early Intervention Program (EIP). The EIP is a state-funded initiative that delivers essential services to children under the age of three who have a confirmed disability or an established developmental delay in one or more key areas: physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and adaptive development.
This approval marks a significant milestone for the community. Across New York State—and particularly within Delaware County—there is a well-documented shortage of early intervention providers. This gap has led to delays in care during the most critical period of a child’s development. By expanding access to these services locally, DVH is helping to bridge that gap and ensure timely support for children and their families.
Extensive research has shown that high-quality early intervention can positively alter a child’s developmental path, leading to improved long-term outcomes not only for the child, but also for their family and the broader community.
"We are honored to contribute to this vital program and look forward to making a meaningful impact in the lives of the youngest members of our community," said Rolland "Boomer" Bojo, UHS-DVH President & CEO.
