Richard “Rich” Fabian, Clinical Manager Post Acute, Care Coordination, UHS Hospitals, has been selected as the 2026 UHS Laureate. The UHS Laureate, one of the highest honors to be awarded to UHS employees and providers, is given annually to those who demonstrate exceptional dedication to excellence, patient care, and Living Our Values Every Day.
UHS senior leadership selected Rich in recognition of his impact across the organization and the communities UHS serves. He was honored at the May 12 Leadership Meeting, where leaders reflected on his contributions and lasting influence.
Annie DePugh, Senior Director of Care Coordination & Health Equity, Care Coordination, made the opening remarks, reflecting, “In every role, across every chapter of his career, Rich has done something remarkable. He has made people feel seen, supported, and cared for, whether they were patients, colleagues, or community members.”
Throughout his 41 years of service, Rich has become known for his Compassion and lasting commitment to strengthening the community. His ability to build trust and support those around him has left a meaningful impression on generations of colleagues.
One of the nomination submissions reads, in part, “Across four decades, Rich has built an impeccable reputation for integrity, reliability, and sound judgement”.
Rich was praised for his dedication to making a difference. This sentiment was emphasized by Kay Boland, Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer, who shared that he is “very dedicated to the work he does at UHS.”
John Carigg, President and CEO, presented Rich with three additional days of paid time off along with a $500 cash award in celebration of his achievements and contributions.
