For more than 25 years, small change has made a big impact through UHS Delaware Valley Hospital’s annual Pennies from Heaven fundraiser. First launched in 1998, the cherished community tradition once again brought students, teachers, and families together in a fun and friendly competition -- all in support of UHS DVH. Students donated change they had been saving all year, arriving in containers ranging from envelopes to large plastic milk jugs, to compete with other classrooms.
This year’s fundraiser raised a total of $2,123.84, with Walton Elementary School contributing $1,658.15 and Hancock Elementary School raising $465.69. Proceeds from Pennies from Heaven help strengthen the Enhance DVH Fund and also support long term initiatives such as the hospital’s Medical Neighborhood project, which is focused on improving access to high quality care and enhancing services for the community close to home.
What begins as spare change quickly becomes something much bigger -- demonstrating that contributions of any size can make a powerful difference when a community comes together.
