At UHS Senior Living at Ideal, our short-term rehabilitation program is designed to help residents regain independence and transition back to their prior living environment following illness, injury, or surgery. From an Occupational Therapy (OT) perspective, rehabilitation is about more than recovery—it’s about restoring confidence, function, and quality of life.
Occupational therapists play a vital role in helping residents re-engage in meaningful daily activities essential for self-care and independent living. These include activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) like meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks. Through comprehensive evaluations, our therapists identify each resident’s unique strengths, challenges, and personal goals.
Based on these assessments, individualized treatment plans are developed to address key areas such as strength, endurance, balance, functional mobility, and cognitive skills. Therapy sessions incorporate task-specific training, adaptive equipment, and personalized strategies to promote safe and effective performance. Environmental modifications energy conservation techniques, and fall prevention strategies are thoughtfully integrated to maximize independence and reduce the risk of injury.
UHS Senior Living at Ideal is proud to have a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapy department, consisting of three Occupational Therapists and one Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). This collaborative team provides high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting residents and their families throughout their rehabilitation journey. Education and open communication are central to our approach, empowering residents to actively participate in their recovery.
A strong emphasis is placed on discharge planning, home modification recommendations, caregiver education and close coordination with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure a smooth and successful transition home. These efforts help support long-term success and minimize the risk of re-hospitalization.
Overall, Occupational Therapy at UHS Senior Living at Ideal plays a vital role in maximizing independence, enhancing functional outcomes, and reducing the risk of rehospitalization during a short-term rehabilitation stay with us.
We are committed to supporting our residents every step of the way — “Helping you return home stronger, safer, and more confident.”
