Her Health Matters talk to focus on health post-menopause on April 15

April 09, 2026

As women navigate life after menopause, most experience changes that can affect their health, comfort and overall well-being – often without fully understanding why. Dr. Phyllis Sheriff-White hopes to change that.

Dr. White, an OB/GYN and the Medical Director of Women’s Health Services at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, will present “12 Things Your OB/GYN Wants You to Know About Your Postmenopausal Body” on Wednesday, April 15 as part of the Her Health Matters Series.

“The postmenopausal years can bring physical and emotional changes that surprise many women,” Dr. White said. “Understanding what’s happening to your body – and knowing when to seek care – can make a tremendous difference in quality of life.”

Dr. White brings a broad range of experience to her role, from her New York City roots to her military service – she’s currently a Colonel in the Army National Guard – and more than a decade caring for women in Chenango County. She said her military service has instilled a strong sense of discipline and a deep commitment to serving others – values that continue to shape her approach to patient care.

“As Medical Director of Women’s Health Services, my goal is to provide the best healthcare possible for the women who strengthen our community,” she said.

The program will take place at Canasawacta Country Club, 261 County Road 44 in Norwich.
Social time and the opportunity to order from the menu and bar will begin at 6 p.m., with the presentation and discussion to follow at 7 p.m.

The April program marks the final installment of UHS Chenango Memorial’s Her Health Matters Series, which has featured physicians and other clinicians speaking on a range of women’s health topics.

“This series has been about connection, education, and empowerment,” said Melissa Stagnaro, Director of Development and Engagement at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital. “We’re grateful to Dr. White for closing out the series by addressing a stage of life that touches so many women yet isn’t talked about nearly enough.”

Dr. White said she hopes attendees leave feeling informed and reassured.

“Women deserve clear, honest information about their bodies at every stage of life,” she said. “My hope is that this talk helps normalize these conversations and reminds women they are not alone and that support is available.”
