Hannah Hatfield is our latest Sunshine Award winner!
October 14, 2025
A program to recognize the extraordinary care and contributions of our non-licensed nursing support staff continues at UHS with Hannah Hatfield, Main Tower 6, UHS Wilson Medical Center, who was named the August winner of the Sunshine Award! Hannah received the Sunshine Award and a bouquet of sunflowers in recognition of her accomplishments and enjoyed cookies during the celebration.
The nursing assistant was nominated by a patient. In the nomination letter, the patient singles out Hannah as an exemplary caregiver, praising her kindness, compassion, and thoughtful anticipation of the patient’s needs. The patient goes on to describe Hannah as being calm and professional during a tense situation when he experienced severe chest pain. She recognized the patient’s needs by suggesting his wife stay in the room with him, going a long way to ensure their comfort and security.
“Throughout my stay, Hannah conveyed both warmth and professionalism,” the patient wrote in the nominating letter. “She offered to walk with me in the hallway, checked on me, listened to me, communicated with the nurses, and clearly has her patient’s best interest at heart. Hannah has an instinct for the needs of the family and needs of the patient beyond the medical procedures. She seems to understand that care is comprehensive and includes communication, compassion, and listening.”
Thank you to Hannah for treating our patients with Compassion, a stellar example of our team living “The UHS Way!”
Patients, families, and colleagues are able to nominate any of our non-licensed support staff based on our UHS Values of Respect, Teamwork, Innovation, Trust, and especially Compassion.
