Treatment Systems

UHS offers two linear accelerators for radiation therapy treatments: TrueBeam by Varian Medical Systems and the Versa HD by Elekta. These systems provide precise treatment options for some of the most complex cancers, including those affecting the head and neck, lung, breast, abdomen, and liver. With advanced imaging capabilities and a robust treatment planning system, our physicians and physics staff are able to tailor each treatment plan to meet the unique needs of every patient.

Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
Radiation delivered directly to a tumor with remarkable precision using real-time imaging.

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
Radiation therapy that uses a computer-controlled linear accelerator to emit precise, high-energy radiation beams from multiple directions to destroy cancer cells. This process allows the beam to conform to the tumor with higher radiation doses while minimizing side effects to surrounding healthy tissue.

Stereotactic Radiosurgery / Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SRS / SBRT)
This treatment delivers very high doses of radiation to a highly specific target and is used in select cases. Treatments are typically completed in one to five sessions and are associated with minimal side effects due to the precision of delivery to a small treatment area.
