Our Products & Services
Non-Invasive Ventilation
For patients with chronic respiratory failure consequent to COPD, severe neuromuscular disorders, or severe restrictive thoracic disorders, UHS offers NIV (non-invasive ventilation) therapy.
The primary goal of NIV is to reduce the work of breathing for patients in chronic respiratory failure.
NIV can help patients:
- Decrease the work of breathing and burden on respiratory muscles
- Reduce daytime sleepiness and morning headaches
- Improve sleep quality
- Maintain or improve the oxygen/carbon dioxide levels in the blood
- Inflate the lungs more fully
- Enjoy a better quality of life
NIV can help patients to be more independent with activities of daily living and less likely to be hospitalized for breathing-related episodes.
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
UHS is a dedicated provider of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) equipment and supplies to facilitate wound care while at home. NPWT assists in the healing of wounds that occur as a result of damage to the surface of the skin.
Regardless of where patients start their therapy, UHS will provide the NPWT pump and supplies for the wound dressing so that the healing process may continue at home. No matter how severe the wound, UHS is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Our Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Services include:
- Local presence with in-person patient setup, delivered right to the patient’s home or hospital bed
- Rapid order processing and delivery from a local team focused on same-day discharge
- Nearly 1,900 commercial payor and preferred provider arrangements with integrated health systems across the United States
- 24/7 clinical hotline and dedicated local clinical resources to help patients and caregivers

For patients who cannot eat by mouth or when oral intake is not adequate, tube feeding may be prescribed. For these patients, we offer our Enteral Nutrition Program. In this program, patients are provided with the tube feeding formulas, equipment, and supplies prescribed by their doctor. Patients will also be provided the top level of service and compassionate care that UHS is known for.
Benefits of tube feeding:
- Intake can be easily and accurately monitored
- Provides nutrition when oral intake is not possible or adequate
- Reduces nutrition-related risks associated with the patient’s condition

Heart at Home
Heart at Home is a cardiac disease management program designed to optimize your health and decrease the likelihood you’ll be readmitted to the hospital. Developed by UHS Home Care, Heart at Home educates, equips and empowers you so you can manage your heart condition at home and feel
and function as well as possible.
In conjunction with your physician, a registered nurse will coordinate your Heart at Home care team, which may include a physical and/or occupational therapist, a dietitian and a social worker. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff will visit you in your home.
This enables us to:
- identify and eliminate risk factors
- review your medications
- spend one-on-one time with you to understand your lifestyle, nutrition and exercise habits and offer suggestions or modifications to help you manage your heart condition
- utilize telemonitoring equipment to closely track your vital signs
- educate you on what you can do after you are discharged from this program to maintain your heart health
Are you a candidate? Most Heart at Home patients have a diagnosis of hypertension, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, angina, congestive heart failure or have recently had a cardiac procedure or surgery. UHS also offers a Cardiac Rehabilitation program at UHS Binghamton General Hospital.
You take control
What you’ll learn about cardiac disease and lifestyle, diet and exercise modifications will help you maintain your independence and gain control of your health.
