Christopher Yanusas, PhD


Christopher Yanusas, Ph. D joined the UHS team in 1995 as a member of a specialized team treating Traumatic Brain Injuries. He earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Marywood University in 2003.  He completed his pre and post-doctoral internships at UHS under the supervision of mentors from Binghamton University. He has over thirty years of experience in working with people suffering from neurological problems. He is a regional provider of neuropsychological services for multiple neurology and primary care practices treating individuals with memory loss. He provides outpatient evaluation and treatment to those in acute recovery stages of Traumatic Brain Injury and Stroke with an emphasis on return to work goals.

He served on the committee tasked with developing the UHS Concussion Center.  He remains an active member of the UHS Concussion Center treating prolonged changes in emotional and cognitive abilities in those experiencing Post-Concussion Syndrome. He provides an eclectic treatment approach to rehabilitation incorporating stress management skills and cognitive-behavior therapy interventions. He is a practitioner of Mindfullness Meditation, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and biofeedback. He has an extensive background in visual rehabilitation for ocular disorders caused by brain injury.  He is a certified consultant to treat concussions maintained by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and ImPact Corporation. He is the neuropsychologist for the Binghamton Devils professional hockey team. He is a member of the Binghamton University Sports Medicine Team. He enjoys teaching and provides a practicum in neuropsychology to students enrolled in the Marywood University PsyD Program. He enjoys golf, skiing, and physical training in his free time.
