Turn your summer returnables into support for the UHS Food Pantry

July 13, 2026

Summer is the season for barbecues, family gatherings, graduation parties, and celebrations with friends. But once the festivities are over, you may find yourself looking at a pile of empty cans and bottles and wondering, "What do I do with all these returnables?"

Fortunately, there's an easy way to put them to good use while supporting a great cause.

The UHS Foundation has partnered with The Can Man in Johnson City to help raise funds for the UHS Food Pantry. Simply bag up your returnable cans and bottles and drop them off at:

The Can Man
📍 24 Olive Street, Johnson City, NY

Hours of Operation:
🕒 Monday through Friday: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
🕒 Saturday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

There's no need to count your cans and bottles—just drop them off and let The Can Man do the work!

The UHS Food Pantry is an important resource for individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community. Through partnerships with CHOW and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, UHS operates a pantry stocked with shelf-stable, refrigerated, and frozen food items. In addition, food resource bins are available at all UHS Primary Care locations and many of the specialty offices, allowing Care Coordinators and support staff to quickly provide food and other necessities to patients in need. Every can and bottle donated helps sustain these efforts, ensuring that food and essential resources remain available to those who need them most.

Thank you for supporting the UHS Food Pantry - one can and bottle at a time.
