March 30 is National Doctors’ Day, an annual observance aimed at appreciating physicians who help save and improve lives everywhere. UHS takes this opportunity to salute all of the members of our medical staff.
The Doctors’ Day observance started in 1933 in Winder, Ga., and since then it’s been honored every year on March 30, the date in 1842 on which Dr. Crawford Long of Georgia first used ether as a surgical anesthetic. Today, healthcare organizations and ordinary citizens and patients continue to celebrate medical advances like these and thank all doctors everywhere who’ve spent so much time and energy mastering their fields of expertise.
At UHS, we honor our physician colleagues, appreciating all that they do to provide knowledgeable care and service, create a consistently great patient experience and live the Values of UHS in their practice of medicine all through the year.
You can help celebrate our healthcare heroes this Doctors' Day, by making a donation to the UHS Foundation in his or her name. Visit us online, by clicking here, to make a donation today! The Foundation will send the physician you honor a Doctors' Day card acknowledging your generosity and gratitude. The amount of your gift will not be mentioned.
