Adriana Sandy, Non-Invasive Vascular Lab Technologist, was drawn to UHS because its Values aligned with her own. "I always had empathy and compassion, which I know UHS is all about, and I wanted to embody that," she shared.

For Lindsay Boyer, CT Supervisor, her favorite part of the role is connecting with patients and helping make challenging situations a little easier. "We usually see people on some of their worst days. Being a source of comfort and making the patient care process as easy as possible is incredibly rewarding," she said. "Everybody who comes through our doors has a story, and it's a privilege to be a small part of their journey."
Similarly, Adriana appreciates the human-centered approach she experiences at UHS. Combined with the strong support she receives from colleagues, it has made her role especially meaningful. "The connections I've made here make me feel supported," she shared.
Growing within the profession
One of the many advantages of a career in Imaging is the opportunity for continuous growth and professional development. As technology advances, professionals are constantly learning new techniques, refining their skills, and expanding their expertise. Drawing on two decades of experience at UHS, Joseph Gaige, Clinical Manager, Radiology, noted that Imaging offers numerous avenues for advancement. Team members may move from X-ray into CT, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine, while others pursue roles in other areas of the organization, such as leadership, information technology, quality management, or industry-focused careers. "We encourage our own staff to apply for those roles to help us grow from within," he said.
For newer employees, the mentorship of experienced colleagues and guidance from supportive leaders can make a meaningful difference during the transition into a new role. Adriana credits her professional growth to supportive teammates and leaders. "Everyone is willing to help, and it's such a nice environment to learn from,” she shared.
Lindsay echoed the sentiment about the collaborative environment within Imaging. “If you want to take the next step in your career, there's always opportunities and people who can support you along the way," she said. "We're always willing to help each other, share knowledge, and do whatever it takes to make our patients' experiences the best they can be.”

When asked what advice they would give someone considering a career in healthcare, particularly in Imaging, team members emphasized the importance of remaining curious, embracing learning opportunities, and keeping patients at the center of everything they do.
"Be willing to learn," Lindsay advised. "Every patient is different. Every scan is different. Every situation is different. You have to lead with an open mind and be ready."
Joseph encourages those interested in the field to spend time exploring what Imaging truly offers: "Doing your research, asking questions, and even shadowing someone in the field can help you understand just how many directions a career in Imaging can take you."
