Your Medical Charges, Estimated Up Front

calculator-and-scopeMaking Payment for Services Easier for You

At UHS, our goal is to make it as easy and convenient as possible for you to understand your hospital bill, insurance coverage and out-of-pocket expenses.

Your health insurance coverage determines your out-of-pocket costs for medical services you receive. Our Financial Advisors will help you estimate those costs up front.

When you call us, we will check the procedure you will have, as well as what is covered under your insurance plan, to estimate your deductible and other out of pocket costs for which you will be responsible.

We will be asking for payment of those costs that aren’t covered by insurance during pre-registration or when you check in for your visit.

Our Financial Advisors will help you to enroll in insurance coverage if you need it, or to set up a payment plan that will work best for you.

Estimates are available for both hospital costs and physician/provider fees. For UHS Hospitals or UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital just email Access.Care-Estimates@nyuhs.org or call the Pre-Arrival Team at (607) 338-1211 option 3 for an estimate of your costs for both inpatient and outpatient procedures, in addition to physician or other outpatient provider charges. For UHS Delaware Valley Hospital and their provider charges call (607) 865-2445.

Hospital Billing Policy

UHS submits bills on behalf of the patient to insurance companies based on information provided by the patient. Co-payments and deductibles, if applicable, are billed to the patient based on the explanation of benefits received from the insurance company or government payer. UHS does not charge interest on balances remaining after the insurance payment.

Charges for anesthesiologists, radiologists and non-UHS providers providing care at UHS Hospitals are not included in the hospital charges submitted to the insurance company and you will receive a separate bill for those services. Information about non-UHS providers practicing at UHS may be found here. Any questions regarding these charges should be directed to the specific office or company.

If you are covered by health insurance, you are strongly encouraged to consult with your health insurer to determine accurate information about your financial responsibility for a particular health care service provided by a non-UHS health care provider. If you are not covered by health insurance, you are strongly encouraged to contact our billing office at (607) 770-0025 to discuss insurance coverage or payment options prior to receiving health care service since these posted health care prices may not reflect the actual amount of your financial responsibility.
