Family Program

We are here to help you. Our family program is free and open to anyone in Broome County and Greater Binghamton, New York interested in learning about addiction.  The program consists of two parts, family education and individual services. We provide education about the disease of addiction and strategies for coping with its wide-ranging impact. Participants are connected to community resources, as needed.

Family Education

A qualified health professional leads a six-week rotating educational series about the disease of addiction, denial systems, enabling behaviors, roles in the addicted family, the meaning of recovery, and coping with addiction.  Please contact Judy Johnston, CASAC, at (607) 762-2893 with questions about how to join the program.

Individual Services

Individual consultations can be scheduled with the program facilitator.  These sessions are designed to brainstorm solutions to challenges families face.  After the initial consultation, family members who are having difficulty coping may continue to work with the facilitator in individual sessions.  Our facilitator utilizes community reinforcement and family training (CRAFT), an evidence-based treatment, to help with issues such as healthy emotional management, setting boundaries, and motivating patients for treatment.  If available, a support group may be offered as well.  Please contact Judy Johnston, CASAC, at (607) 762-2893 with questions.
