Visitor management comes to UHS Binghamton General
In keeping with UHS’ commitment to patient safety, security and comfort, UHS Binghamton General Hospital will be implementing visitor management at its public entrances this month. This will ensure patient, visitor and staff safety, provide enhanced patient privacy and assist guests in getting to their desired location.
The visitor management program for UHS Hospitals sites was launched at UHS Wilson Medical Center on April 1, and will begin operations at UHS Binghamton General on June 10. The program applies to all visitors, including outpatients, vendors, and any other non-staff guests.
Upon entering the hospital, each visitor will be required to show their driver’s license or other government-issued identification. Once the ID is validated, the person will be given a temporary visitor pass to wear while on the premises. If the visitor doesn’t have ID with them, a photo of the person will be taken, information obtained and a visitor pass issued. The visitor pass will include the visitor’s name, picture, destination location, and date of issue.
To better serve visitors, public access points at UHS Binghamton General will be at the following entrances: Mitchell Avenue main entrance, 40 Mitchell Avenue, the entrance from the parking lot on Park Avenue, and the Emergency Department entrance.
Following two and a half months of renovation work, the main entrance to UHS Binghamton General on Mitchell Avenue has reopened. The entrance closed April 8 for a complete structural and facade replacement.
The project featured replacement of the structure, canopy and façade, creating a bright, impressive, modern entryway to the Binghamton facility's Main Lobby and Gift Shop area. During the work, there was a temporary entrance to the main part of the hospital through the Courtyard and physicians' entrance.
Valet parking will continue to be offered at the newly remodeled entrance.
Public entrances at UHS Wilson Medical Center are the Decker Center and Emergency Department entryways.
Visitors can look for UHS staff and volunteers who will be present at designated public entrances to ensure that visitors receive assistance in getting to their desired location.
