UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial Celebrates Nursing Home Week

May 15, 2019

Nursing homes across the nation are currently celebrating National Nursing Home Week, May 12-18, whose theme was “Live Soulfully.”

Karen Blackman, Activities Director at Chenango Memorial Hospital’s Senior Living Floor explains, “This is a special week and we will host a series of events designed to enrich the relationships and contacts between residents, youth, community members, and family and staff.”

UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial Hospital marked the occasion with lots of activities designed to celebrate residents and their lives, and also to just have fun.

As always, the week-long celebrations began with Mothers’ Day.  Country singer Rylee Lum of America’s Got Talent fame led the list of events this week with an incredible concert for all the residents and staff. Monday’s events included a meet-n-greet book signing for local authors, many of which are living on the hospital’s second. Tuesday was Music the Tweedlers with staff and residents enjoying the rhythm and tunes. Wednesday has the taste buds working overtime with a Mac and Cheese cook off.  Thursday includes a field trip and painting at the Artist Palette. Residents will enjoy a trip to town and the creation of one of a kind art.  Friday will include a reflection of our lives event and the week concludes with bowling for dollars on the floor.
