Restrictions at our UHS Primary Care, Specialty Care and Outpatient Surgery locations

March 18, 2020

10/5/20 UPDATE:

Due to the dramatic increase in community cases of COVID-19, UHS will be suspending visitation on the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at UHS Binghamton General Hospital.

We are taking this step to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.

This suspension is effective immediately and will be in place until further notice.

You and your family’s health, safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us at UHS. In an effort to maintain everyone’s safety and reduce the risk to our patients, providers and staff during COVID-19, we are implementing visitor restrictions at our primary and specialty care offices and outpatient surgery locations located on our hospital campuses.

If you are not feeling well, we strongly encourage you to call your provider's office or utilize the UHS virtual walk-in before you come in especially if you are experiencing fever, shortness of breath, cough, or any combination of those.

Infections like the flu and the novel coronavirus are especially concerning, but can be avoided by taking precautions.

If you are coming in for an appointment:

  • We ask that you come alone if possible.
  • If you do require assistance, please limit this to one additional person only.  Do not bring a guest who is not feeling well.
  • People over the age of 65 should avoid coming if at all possible.
  • If you are bringing a child in for a pediatric appointment, please do not bring the youngster's siblings if at all possible.

We understand that this is not going to be an easy or welcome transition. We want to ensure the highest possible level of safety and care for everyone's well-being and to be compliant with federal, state and county directives during the COVID-19 situation.
