Trauma Teaching Day returns March 30

Highly respected leaders in the field of emergency medical care will be the speakers at UHS’ 31st annual Patrick E. O’Hara, MD, EMS, Emergency Medicine/Trauma Teaching Day this March in Greater Binghamton. 

The one-day conference, designed for physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and other first responders and clinicians, will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, March 30, at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Binghamton. 

The conference has been popular with the emergency medical community for three decades, drawing thousands of participants over the years and such prominent speakers as forensic pathologist Michael Baden, MD. 

The seminar’s namesake, Dr. O’Hara, was one of the founders of emergency medical care at UHS.

This year’s presentations will include:

  • William “Bill” Hallinan, MSN, RN, EMT-P, Trauma Program Manager at the University of Rochester Medical Center on emergency cardiac care updates.
  • Terry Foster, RN, MSN, FAEN, CCRN, CPEN, TCRN, CEN Critical Care, Clinical Nurse Specialist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare on humor in health care.
  • William Eggleston, PharmD, DABAT, Binghamton University School of Pharmacy Professor and Toxicologist from Upstate Medical University on new and emerging drugs of abuse.
  • Lee Burns, EMT, Retired NYS-DOH Director of EMS and Trauma on preparing for the most challenging emergency of your career.
  • Aidan O’Connor, NREMT-P, Business Operations Manager/Flight Paramedic with LifeNet of NY on Medevac Helicopter ground safety 0perations.
  • The conference also includes a buffet luncheon
