Stay Healthy: 61 screened at skin cancer event
Providers screened 61 people at a highly successful skin cancer screening day Sept. 16.
UHS Stay Healthy presented the free, adult screening, held at UHS Dermatology at 200 Front St. in Vestal.
A total of 38 persons were scheduled for follow-up appointments, 20 for dermatology and 18 for plastic surgery.
"On behalf of myself and the other providers, I want to thank everyone involved in organizing and participating in the event - well done!" said dermatologist Genadij Sienkiewicz, MD. "It turned up a high percentage of people needing care."
Mitzi Sherba, director of Primary Care at the UHS Medical Group, told providers and staff: "All your time and effort truly made a difference for the individuals who received services. You all did a fantastic job."
The screening was geared to people who had noticed a mole or lesion on their skin that they were concerned about but hadn't yet had evaluated by a provider.
