Governor's panel to hold health plan meeting at UHS

June 26, 2017

UHS this week will be the site of a governor's roundtable on the potential effects of the proposed American Health Care Act currently being debated in Congress.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Southern Tier Expert Panel will focus on how hospitals, nursing homes, providers, patients and residents in the Empire State would be affected if the proposed legislation were to be passed.

The panel discussion will be held on Wednesday, June 28, starting at 6 p.m., in the Russell Room at UHS Binghamton General Hospital, 10-42 Mitchell Ave., Binghamton.

Drake Lamen, MD, president and chief executive officer of UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, will be one of the members of the panel of experts.

As a physician and CEO of a community hospital, Dr. Lamen will offer perspectives on the potential impact of the legislation on hospitals that serve patients across large rural areas.

The event is open to the public, but seating will be limited.

The Southern Tier roundtable is similar to 10 other regional meetings scheduled this month around the Empire State, the governor's office has reported.

The panels feature Cuomo Administration officials along with experts from across the healthcare field.
