Becoming certified affirms high credentials in nursing

March 19, 2019

UHS participates in the American Nurses Credentialing Center's "Success Pays" certification program and is encouraging all nurses to become certified in their specialty. There is no cost to nurses to enroll and take the exam.

March 19 is Certified Nurses Day, but any day is a good day to begin pursuing certification, according to the Nursing Professional Development Council of UHS. Certified Nurses Day worldwide honors nurses who contribute to better patient outcomes through national board-certification in their specialty. Certification affirms advanced knowledge, skills and excellence as you meet the challenges of modern nursing.

Every March, employers, certification boards, education facilities and healthcare providers celebrate nurses who earn and maintain the highest credentials in their specialty. Inspired by Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles, RN, EdD, FAAN, a pioneer in nursing certification, Certified Nurses Day is the perfect opportunity to invite all nurses to advance their career by choosing certification. Certification is encouraged and recognized nationally. Currently there are over 125 certified nurses at UHS.
