For UHS Hospitalists

We are committed to collaborating with you to ensure the best outcomes for patients with substance use disorders. We are also invested in sharing knowledge and best practices with local providers.

Alcohol and Sedative Hypnotic Withdrawal Consultation Service

Hospitalists at UHS Binghamton General Hospital can consult addiction medicine for co-management of complicated alcohol and sedative hypnotic withdrawal cases.

Substance Use Disorder Assessments and Linkage to Treatment

We offer substance use disorder assessments and linkage to treatment after discharge for patients hospitalized at UHS Wilson Medical Center and Binghamton General Hospital. Treatment could include inpatient services, outpatient services, or medication-assisted treatment. Interested providers can call 607-762-2629 and ask for a hospital intervention service (HIS) consultation prior to hospital discharge.

Medication-Assisted Treatment Induction for Hospitalized Patients

If you are considering inducting a patient, hospitalized for other reasons, on methadone or Suboxone® (buprenorphine/naloxone) with the intention of transferring them to the UHS Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic after discharge, please call 607-762-2800 and ask to speak with the clinic manager. The clinic manager will send a clinician to see your patient to determine clinic eligibility, explain the clinic process and rules, and help formulate a plan.
