CHOW Check Donation

With the Thanksgiving & the Christmas Holiday’s right around the corner, UHS and its staff wanted to provide for those that are community that are in need. A friendly challenge was issued with having Nurses squaring off against members of the Operations Division at UHS to collect monetary donations for CHOW.

The challenge lasted only one week and there was only winners being those that will be provided with food this holiday season. In addition, John M. Carrigg, president and chief executive officer of UHS, notified the teams that he would personally match the total amount raised by the two groups.

As a result, a check for $11,745 was presented today to Les Aylesworth, CHOW Director, by John Carrigg UHS Binghamton General Hospital.

“Thanksgiving is upon us, on behalf of UHS Leadership and CHOW we want to thank each and every one of Team UHS who donated to this cause,” Mr. Carrigg said. “Your generosity is overwhelming; for every dollar donated to CHOW they are able to provide four meals to those in need, impacting hundreds of families in our area.”

CHOW, the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse, furnishes more than 175,000 pounds of food each month to those in the Southern Tier who experience food insecurity.
