‘Sock Out Cancer’ to benefit from Rumble Ponies ticket sales

May 30, 2019

sock out cancer logoFamilies served by the UHS and Lourdes Hospital foundations will benefit from “Sock Out Cancer Day” at the Binghamton Rumble Ponies home baseball game on Sunday, June 2.

This very special event will feature an opening Sock Out Cancer parade for all attendees who want to participate, as well a proclamation by New York State elected representatives designating June 2 as the third annual Sock Out Cancer Day in New York State. And throwing out the first pitch will be local favorite “Gentleman Al” Downing, who played for the Binghamton Triplets in 1961 prior to joining the Yankees, and has been part of Security Mutual’s annual All-Star Golf Tournament since the Tournament was founded in 2003.

Each Sock Out Ticket Package includes one pair of Sock Out Cancer’s signature multi-colored socks (socks can be picked up on Game Day at the Sock Out Cancer table on the concourse). Sock Out Cancer Ticket Package price is $18 for Grandstand seating, and $24 for Box Seats. To purchase tickets, visit https://bit.ly/2ErFuU0.

Visit your local Mirabito Convenience Store to obtain ticket vouchers good for a discounted $8 Grandstand ticket (socks not included), a savings of $2 per ticket. Vouchers can also be used to upgrade to a discounted $12 Box Seat ticket (socks not included), a savings of $6 per ticket. These vouchers can be redeemed at the Box Office with half the proceeds going back to Sock Out Cancer.

Proceeds will benefit the Lourdes Hospital Foundation and the UHS Foundation.

The Rumble Ponies will take on the Portland Sea Dogs at home June 2.

Cancer creates an enormous strain on a family, both emotionally and financially. The purpose of Sock Out Cancer is to raise funds to ensure that families affected by cancer can focus on supporting their loved one instead of struggling to pay bills or deal with ordinary living expenses.

Sock Out Cancer assists families who have been referred by case workers at the region’s two largest cancer centers: Lourdes and UHS. Services are administered by the two foundations, which have jointly established guidelines to ensure that all families assisted will be treated fairly and equitably.

Monetary help may come in the form of rent or mortgage assistance, payments for utility bills, gift cards to gas stations and grocery stores, and similar assistance as required.
