NYCM Insurance commits $100,000 to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital capital campaign

November 27, 2019

UHS Chenango Memorial’s capital campaign is closer to its goal thanks to a commitment from one of the region’s largest insurers.

Officials from NYCM Insurance presented a ceremonial check in the amount of $100,000 to campaign leaders at the Norwich hospital on Tuesday.

“NYCM Insurance is proud to offer our support to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital and their initiative to increase the amount of care they can provide to patients in the area,” President & CEO V. Daniel Robinson said during the presentation. “NYCM is dedicated to giving back to our community, it’s who we are, and, therefore, we are honored to be part of this project.”

Headquartered in Edmeston, the property and casualty insurer employs 850 regionally.

“Corporately, we have a great dedication to wellness. With our second largest office, as well as many employees and customers living in Chenango County, it provides us with peace of mind knowing NYCM families will soon have greater access to a walk in center and broader diagnostic imaging,” Robinson said.

Dr. Drake Lamen, President and CEO of UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, thanked NYCM Insurance for its campaign commitment and the leadership role the company plays in both its industry and the region.

“We are grateful for NYCM’s support and the important role they play in our regional business community,” Lamen said. “We feel fortunate that they have chosen to support our project at a time when they are also investing in their own infrastructure.”

According to Lamen, funds raised with the capital campaign will support construction of a new Emergency Room and Walk-In Center, as well as strategic investments in Diagnostic Imaging and infrastructure to support the growth of future services at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital. The work is part of the first phase of the hospital’s Chenango Medical Neighborhood Plan.

“This is the largest concentrated investment in our hospital in fifty years, and only the fourth time in our history that we’ve reached out to the community with a capital campaign,” Lamen said. “The response has been humbling, and we’re very grateful to NYCM Insurance and all those who have stepped forward to generously support this fundraising effort.”

According to Lamen, the hospital will continue to solicit support for the 2019 Chenango Medical Neighborhood Capital Campaign through the end of the year.
