Advance Care Planning for Persons with Developmental Disabilities: A Night for Families

UHS Palliative Medicine, along with Care Compass Network, will be offering an evening of learning for family members on the process of facilitating end-of-life care for persons with developmental disabilities. Information will be provided on palliative management and the legal processes surrounding end-of-life care for these individuals.

This learning event will take place Thursday, September 26 from 6-8pm at Traditions at the Glen (4101 Watson Blvd, Johnson City, NY 13790). Light refreshments will be provided.

 Speakers include:

  • Philip J. Dzwonczyk, MD, Medical Director, UHS Palliative Medicine
  • Katie Orem, MPH, Geriatrics and Palliative Care Program Manager, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, and Electronic Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (eMOLST) Administrator
  • Laura Bevacqua, Principal Attorney, Mental Hygiene Legal Services
  • Laura Monthie, Director, Surrogate Decision-Making Committee Program, Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs
