Walton team anticipates MASH Camp
Each year UHS Delaware Valley holds a MASH Camp for students in grades 10 through 12. The event is an opportunity for students to learn more about healthcare careers and the educational requirements for those careers.
This year the camp will be held on Oct. 17 and 18. Students will choose which day they would like to attend.
The enthusiastic youngsters attend one full day of camp, during which they visit each patient care area of the hospital, speaking with the staff and learning about how many departments function. They have hands-on experiences with hospital equipment.
Departments include primary care, emergency department, lab, pharmacy, radiology, medical unit, cardiopulmonary (respiratory) and physical therapy. Staff members go out of their way to provide students with informative and inspirational explanations of their work, how it is accomplished and how it benefits patients.
Because the day is very interactive, participation is limited to 30 students.
Applications can be obtained from the guidance offices at area schools or from the HR Department at UHS Delaware Valley, 865-2171; speak with Cindy Gardepe, director. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, Oct. 9.
