UHS hosts BLI's 2018 Healthcare Day

UHS hosted the Broome Leadership Institute’s 2018 Healthcare Day Feb. 15 at UHS Binghamton General Hospital.

Thirty-five people from the Class of 2018 participated in the event, which featured a tour of UHS Orthopedics, presentations by experts in the health field and a panel discussion in the hospital’s Russell Room.

Speakers included John Carrigg, president and chief executive officer of UHS; Dave MacDougall, senior vice president for Finance and Information Services at UHS; Alan Wilmarth, administrative director of Behavioral Health at UHS; and Carrie Davis, senior marketing coordinator at UHS.

Members of the discussion panel, moderated by Christina Boyd, vice president for Marketing and Community Relations at UHS, were UHS clinical leaders:  Kristy Alfano, director of Nursing; Danielle Donlin, director of Orthopedics; Michelle Karedes, director of Oncology Services; and Sheri Renaud, nurse manager at UHS Binghamton General.

Jon Tooley, director of UHS Community Relations, coordinated the agenda of presentations.

Topics included current issues in healthcare, today’s healthcare consumer and removing the stigma of addiction.

BLI is a six-month community leadership program for business professionals, giving them the opportunity to learn firsthand about the corporations, organizations and industries in the Greater Binghamton region.

Attendees toured UHS Orthopedics on the Vestal Parkway and heard presentations at UHS Binghamton General Hospital on the challenges and opportunities to be found in the healthcare field today.
  • Rick Boland of UHS, left, and Santino Stenta of Visions Federal Credit Union, on Feb. 15 attended Healthcare Day at UHS as part of their membership in the Class of 2018 of the Broome Leadership Institute.  The event was hosted by UHS and featured expert speakers on topics such as substance use treatment, the cost of healthcare and today’s empowered consumer.
