31 graduate from UHS' Medical Residency Program

Thirty-one newly minted doctors have graduated from the UHS Medical Residency Program, with some remaining in the region to begin their medical practices and others joining healthcare organizations elsewhere around the country.

The House Staff Graduation for the Class of 2018 was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Binghamton on June 3.

Residents graduated in the specialties of family medicine, internal medicine, transitional year, and podiatric medicine and surgery, along with a preliminary medicine year and a sports medicine fellowship.

Several academic and leadership awards also were presented to residents and faculty members.

Graduating residents in the Family Medicine Residency are:  Corina Arana, DO; Jennifer Cackowski, MD; Nor Darwish, MD; Urmi Das, MD; Hossain Ekhlas, MD; Zack Emery, DO; Irfan Khan, MD; Sarah Wineholt, MD; and Lauren Zagieboylo, MD. Dr. Arana will be staying with UHS as a Geriatric Medicine fellow, Dr. Wineholt will be starting her practice in the Ithaca area, and Dr. Zagieboylo will be joining Ascension Lourdes Primary Care.

Graduates in Internal Medicine are:  Bilal Ahmed, MD; Sama Bella, MD; Ryan Dixon, DO; Pranava Ganesh, MD; Sarah Khan, MD; Kimberly Persaud, DO; Matthew Pinto, DO; Ehssan Tukmachi, MD; Anum Waqar, DO; and Abraham Yacoub, MD. Dr. Ahmed will be staying with UHS as a Cardiovascular Disease fellow, Dr. Bella and Dr. Ganesh will be joining UHS as Hospitalists, and Dr. Khan will be joining UHS Primary Care in Vestal.

Transitional Year graduates are: Mohamed Alfath, DO; Nathan Cox, MD; Matt Cronrod, MD; Adam Goldenberg, MD; Taylor Mansfield, DO; Kumar Seelam, MD; and Anish Sureshkumar, DO.  

Graduates in the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency, with added credential in RRA surgery, are:  Aaron Israel, DPM; Nicholas Putrino, DPM; and Tyler Schow, DPM. Dr. Putrino will be joining UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital as a Podiatrist. 

Preliminary Medicine Year graduate is:  Mohammad Sadaghiani, MD. 

Nathaniel Baer, MD, graduated from the Sports Medicine Fellowship.
