Food choices abound at UHS Wilson

To our guests:

Print out the attached food announcement.pdf for more information.

Have you ever savored the flavor of Ellis gourmet coffee? (Now's your chance.)

How about trying Smokin' Bones BBQ, wild mushroom bisque, a gyro with a special Afghani sauce or . . . a Sammich!? Or, if you're really pressed for time, why not just grab and go with a chopped cob salad and a lemon pudding?

All of these choices and more are becoming available as new employee dining and snacking services open for business on the UHS Wilson campus starting Sunday and Monday. Due to the closing of the Picciano Building, food services have substantially changed at UHS Wilson, but the alternatives that are being put in place look mighty tasty:

Harrison Street Cafe

Starting Sunday and going into full operation Monday, the Harrison Street Cafe will open to visitors and staff in the Gift Shop and Harrison Street Lobby area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served, and hours have been expanded. The cafe will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday, each week. Additional pub-style tables and chairs have been purchased and have arrived.

Entree choices will include such items as chicken spiedies, lasagna and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que roasted pork. Soups and side dishes will be available during lunch and dinner, along with oatmeal and cream of wheat for breakfast. In addition, the cafe will provide an "On the Go" station featuring salads, sandwiches, parfaits, hot and cold beverages and a daily hot-meal offering. For payment at the cafe, staff will be able to use cash, credit cards or payroll deduction.

Picnicking under the tent

With approval from the Village of Johnson City, UHS has installed a large tent in the parking lot on Baldwin Street across from the Emergency Department.

Mobile food vendors will be on hand to provide a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner choices, and you'll be able to sit under the tent to eat.
External food caterers that have partnered with UHS to provide additional meal options include:

  • Ryan Connelly's Sammich! food truck, which has been at Spiedie Fest, offering a variety of sandwiches and wraps.
  • Smokin' Bones BBQ of Norwich, offering a range of food choices, from grilled items to salads.
  • (Coming soon) Hamza and Madina Halal Food from the New York City area, offering unique gyros, kabobs and other Middle Eastern-inspired items.

Free coffee kiosks

Three kiosks have been installed to provide FREE Ellis coffee (founded in 1854 on Philadelphia's waterfront) for visitors and staff.
The kiosks are located in the Harrison Street Lobby, the Decker Lobby and the third-floor Towers elevator lobby.
