UHS honors volunteers for service with a smile

April 21, 2017

UHS will mark National Volunteer Week, April 23 to 29, by honoring the women, men and teenagers who give of their time as healthcare volunteers during the year.

UHS annually celebrates the members of its team who provide selfless, compassionate service to benefit hospital patients and nursing home residents.

The volunteers come from an impressive array of backgrounds and work in nearly every department at the hospitals and in the senior living areas.

During the past year, 494 volunteers gave 58,597 hours of service throughout UHS Binghamton General Hospital, UHS Wilson Medical Center and UHS Senior Living at Ideal.

With the theme of "Volunteers Make UHS a Brighter Place," the volunteers will be honored at a special recognition banquet, on Tuesday, April 25, noon Traditons at the Glen.

At UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, 24 volunteers turned in 2,585 hours of service. They were honored on April 19 at the hospital's annual appreciation luncheon.

At UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, a volunteer recognition luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 17, at the Canasawacta Country Club.

Each interaction a volunteer has with a patient, visitor or staff member represents a commitment to brightening the lives of others.
