'Women Fore Women' to be Held at Traditions

Women Fore WomenThe UHS Foundation has announced that the 2014 Women Fore Women Captain & Crew Golf Classic will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, at Traditions at the Glen in Endwell.

The mission of Women Fore Women is to generate funds which support education, prevention, early detection and treatment in the battle against breast cancer and related women’s health issues.

Those who have supported the tournament since its inception in 1997 have made a tremendous impact on the lives of thousands of women in the community," said Betsy Pietriyk, executive director of the Foundation.  "Proceeds from the event have funded many outstanding renovations and equipment additions at UHS facilities."

Proceeds from this year's event will be included in a $500,000 UHS Foundation gift to UHS Hospitals for the purchase of three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis mammography units.

One unit was installed this summer and a second is expected to arrive in October.

Breast tomosynthesis is the latest breakthrough in mammography.  It provides a clearer, more accurate view of the breast and allows doctors to more effectively pinpoint the size, shape and location of any abnormalities.  This can result in better detection, fewer call-backs and greater peace of mind for the patient.

The entry fee is $120 per person, which includes the greens fee for 18 holes, golf carts (two per foursome), player gift, on-course beverages and snacks, dinner reception and exceptional prizes.  A portion of the contribution is tax-deductible.

Women who wish to sign up to play in the tournament can contact the Foundation office at 762-2171.
